Meet Nellie

Remember the shaggy dog that we found on the day we tried to go blueberry picking? Well, here she is! Meet Nellie. Believe it or not, she lives just down the street. An elderly couple owns her, and they had to call 911 when the wife fell ill on the 28th. Apparently, Nellie got out of the house when the EMTs were taking her owner to the hospital. The couple's daughter called us after we took the dog to the Humane Society in Ridgely. The Humane Society told us that she lived down the street from us, but that the couple was in Salisbury because the wife had to have surgery. So, we agreed to take Nellie home with us until their daughter could pick her up. Their daughter came last Monday night and expressed how grateful she was that she was able to tell her dad that Nellie was safe. He was able to relax about it before his wife's surgery. This whole thing made us feel so good. We plan to check in with them when it looks like things are back to normal at their home.
